  • We got our sea food overdose for a year. Good food, good service. Highly recommend it if you're in town.

I was absolutely disgusted by the level of service provided by the owner of this restaurant and the food was only marginally better. After years of coming here and enjoying ourselves, I, along with two others arrived at the restaurant just after 6pm for dinner. I had a flight to catch at 8:15 and with the restaurant about 2/3 full felt confident that we would have more than enough time (the airport is a mere 8 minutes from the restaurant and I had already checked my bag). After a bit of a curfuffle at arrival (we were waiting as the hostess cleaned a table for us and while she stepped away, a waitress sat another group at our table - the only one available at the window- upon pointing this out to this waitress she told me that no one had been seated at our table and that we were a group of two, not three. The hostess stepped in and said no, we were always three and had been waiting 10 minutes for our table). After being seated, we ordered quickly and were served our appetizers shortly thereafter. The shrimp appetizer was fine - they were fresh and flavourful. The cocktail sauce was bottled and I left it. The calamari was good but had so much pepper that everyone fell into coughing fits. Let it be noted that we are not light weights when it comes to spice. We then waited another 45 minutes and nothing - no food, no comment about a wait, just people rushing by. Eventually we grabbed the staff member nearest us, who was the owner and said that we had been waiting for quite a long time and now only had 25 minutes before our flight. The owner was so rude I'm actually disgusted and told him so. He told us that we had been seated only 15 minutes prior and we need to understand that running a restaurant, especially a seafood restaurant is difficult and it means you need to be patient. I told him that we had been there for over an hour at this point and he very rudely told me that was not possible. I told him I had received a text message when I sat down and the time stamp was from 70 minutes prior. He then continued to spout at me that we were unreasonable and that if we needed to leave in 25 minutes we should forget it and to cancel the order. He told me that you can't come for dinner at 6 and expect to be served within an hour. Funny, because The restaurant wasn't even full. Who knows what they do when it is. He was so rude, I actually can't get over it. After him arguing with me for quite some time, he put a "rush" on our orders and they came 5 minutes later. My lobster salad was terrible. The lobster tasted like bleach. The bottled Italian dressing was not touched as it was pretty bad. My dining partner's lobster roll was fine, but nothing special, and my other dining prtner's seafood casserole was bland and flavourless, containing very little seafood. Just after we were served our main course, the table that arrived after us and was seated at our table, paid for their meal and left. Having received all three courses in the time it took us to get our mains. I will say that our server, Naomi, was very nice and positive, though no comment was made by her about the wait. Do yourself a favour and go anywhere but here. Matelot in Baie Des Sables, one of the can times nearby, one of the hotel restaurants. Everywhere is better than here.
